The Afterlife

I believe in an afterlife although I'm not sure what it encompasses. I believe in two different ones, what could probably be equivalated as "heaven" and "hell" although they probably don't meet the typical descriptions of such. Human life forces ("souls" if you will) are higher-dimensional constructs anchored within this 4-dimensional space that we call Life. (Yes, 4 dimensions: height, width, and breadth, and time) Upon death, the life force becomes unanchored from the body and is allowed to traverse the dimensions again, perhaps returning to its "parent" dimension. I did not previously believe that unique life forces existed prior to conception, but reflections upon my wife's beliefs make one think about the possibility. (My wife believes in reincarnation.) God judges each human based on their acts and belief. Evil individuals have their life forces sent to a section of reality where there no interaction with God, hence, a "hell". Good individuals are allowed to be within God's presence. Given the nature of God as being "good", being within the presence of God would provide happiness and joy, one would think. However, I reserve my breath on earthly descriptions of heaven and hell because, if they are as I think of them, the descriptions simply aren't valid in the context and are useful only for thinking about them in a comparative state.

Now, that being said, how to get to heaven or hell is a different matter. The Christian tradition has a belief in Christ as savior as the requirement for heaven's entrance, with or without good deeds, depending on your denomination. However, other religions have similar requirements, some based on good deeds and some based on belief, ritual, or other methods. Some do not conceive of a heaven or a hell, some only of one, some of multi-levels (Purgatory comes to mind). My persional beliefs embrace the idea of Christ as Savior. However, that does not remove from myself the responsibility to become a better person and to do good deeds. While doing good might not be the gate to heaven, necessarily, as believer in an entity (God) that embraces wisdom, intelligence, goodness, and fairness, I would be violating my own beliefs if I did not strive to achieve the same.
