Reality/Life
This thing we call Reality (or Life,
or whatever you prefer) is a construct designed and created by God and is a
self-maintaining, self-operating system of causality. Events happening in this
reality occur because of a complex and multi-dimensional array of events that
cause the next event. These all work within the parameters of probability,
mathematics, physics, etc. However, I find it difficult to be a strict
determinist in the traditional sense of the word. Although everything follows a
path of causality, there exists on the sub-molecular level an element of "fuzzy"
logic, a phenomenon where sub-atomic particles don't always quite act in
predictable ways. This has been defined by many concepts in quantum theory and
I believe is the basis for much of the changes to the order in an otherwise
causal world.
That being said, I think that for the majority of the time
things are determined, hence I would label myself as a soft determinist. I do
not automatically attribute "good" things in my life to the power of God, nor
bad things to the power of Satan. Reality is a machine, of sorts, and machines
are designed to operate on an automatic basis (at least somewhat). I believe
that intervention into Reality by God is probably a lot rarer than most would
imagine and sometimes it just sits back and watches. This does not imply a lack
of concern; it simply means that God often lets the machinery of Reality do its
job as it was designed.
