Supernatural Beings/Entities
This
is a collection of the various supernatural things I do or do not believe
in, or am uncertain about. I have had a few interactions from what I would consider the
spiritual world. One, I was sitting in the basement of the computer lab building during college
with my girlfriend (I was reading...really!) and as I looked up, I saw the wall dissolve away
and a great chariot come through, headed towards me. It was black, pulled by black horses with
eyes and noses of fire, and driven by a being in black of unknown shape and nature. The vision
lasted only a few seconds but it scared the bejesus out of me. Becky (my girlfriend at
the time) can probably still attest to my mood after that.
Other interactions are less noteworthy: Creepy feelings of dread while sitting in bed one night,
other feelings of uneasiness. In most situations I use a small prayer, asking for
protection, and the feeling eventually goes away. I do not think these are mentally-generated
instances, although they could be. Also, my prayer could be a placebo, but I don't think
so because I've examined myself during such occurrences and can't find abberations in
my psyche/person that would readily explain such things.
Angels: I believe they exist as supernatural, higher- or
pan-dimensional beings created by God as helpers and messengers. I believe that
although God is very powerful, having helpers to manipulate smaller portions of
reality, deliver messages to lower-dimensional beings, and offer protection is
handy. I believe they can be sent by God to protect humans from normal
phenomenon as well as supernatural beings. Angels are inherently "good" by
their nature, all have intelligence and self-awareness, but some lack free will.
They are ranked in power and some have more than others. Artist conceptions of
these creatures I believe to be far off. Cherubims are NOT cute babies and
would more than likely make your brain fry with fear if you actually saw
one.
Demons: Also something that I believe in, as I believe there is a
counterpart to the goodness of the angels. The Bible lists demons as fallen
angels (including Lucifer), and I'm ok with that idea although I also believe
there are demons inherently in the system, just as there is inherently a satanic
figurehead. Demons are out to wreak havoc on both the supernatural and natural
world and can be summoned by humans just as well as angels -- perhaps easier.
However, they cannot cause direct damage to a human unless allowed by the human
themselves. However, other objects of reality are at their mercy if they so
choose.
Ghosts: As defined as the spirits of dead humans, no, I
generally tend to not believe in them. However, my wife does, and she is
quite convinced of it. I have watched/read some books on psychics being able to
receive messages from the dead and the dead visiting the living in various situations.
This might be possible -- it is not impossible in the framework that I believe in.
I have not personally had any interaction with the spirit world in terms of
passed relatives or friends, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Spectres/Poltergeists/etc.: All classes or subparts of the
demonic world.
Satan/Lucifer: Yes, I believe it exists as a necessary
counterpart to the "goodness" of God. The concepts of "good" and "bad" are
relative; however, the powerful force that encompasses the definition of "good"
as embodied within God exerts such a force on the nature of the universe that
there exists, by necessity, a counterpart to this force, as defined by Lucifer.
Most things in reality require a balance and I believe these two sides exist as
a matter of achieving that balance.
