RIP Teran, who died during the power outage of the winter storms of February 2007. Teran is our red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta) turtle. He is about 8 inches long from head to tip of tail. He lives out on our front porch (during the warm months) in a large, Sterilite plastic container that has water and rocks. Since red-eared sliders are almost entirely aquatic turtles, he spends most of his time swimming around, although he does spend a good portion of the day sunning himself ontop of the rocks. Here is a picture of a red-eared slider, although it is not Teran (gotta get the digicam sometime and take some pics):
